Andrew Kopelman MD is board certified in general psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. He received his MD from Stanford University School of Medicine. He completed his internship year in general surgery at UCSF, and went on to complete a general psychiatry residency at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He then trained for two years in the subspecialty of forensic psychiatry at New York-Presbyterian / Columbia University Medical Center.

He received his bachelor of science, cum laude, with distinction in evolutionary biology, from Brown University.

Dr. Kopelman maintains a private practice in the West Village of Manhattan. He is currently continuing to train as a psychoanalyst at New York Psychoanalytic Society and Institute. From 2012 through 2014, he worked as an Attending Psychiatrist and Clinical Instructor at Bellevue Hospital in the Forensic Psychiatry division. He is now a Clinical Assistant Professor in Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College.

Dr. Kopelman is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the American Academy of Psychiatry and the Law, and the American Psychoanalytic Association.
